Cargill’s Provimi brand and Delacon introduce science-based phytogenic feed additives in Russia

Moscow, April 12, 2018 - The strategic partnership between Cargill and Delacon is bringing more offerings and benefits to animal producers in Russia through the introduction of three phytogenic feed products.  The three Delacon products available in the Russian market immediately are:

  • Biostrong® 510 for chickens, depending on application, improves feed conversion, optimizes laying performance, supports intestinal integrity, increases fattening performance, reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Fresta® F Plus for sows and piglets, depending on application, improves feed intake, enhances nutrient digestion and utilization, supports intestinal integrity, increases weight gain and reduces feed conversion, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • Rumex for ruminants stimulates feed intake and performance in dairy cows and beef cattle, decreases body weight losses post-partum and supports fertility, decreases urea content in milk, reduces greenhouse gas and ammonia emissions

In 2017 Delacon und Cargill formed a strategic partnership to deliver enhanced solutions for their customers. The Russian market is now the first to conquer with the new partnership, through Cargill’s brand Provimi. Together, Provimi and Delacon are expanding their portfolio in Russia to offer natural, science-based phytogenic feed additives and robust technical services. With the excellent technical service from Provimi’s local team and Delacon’s global experts, it is ensured, that the Russian producers will get the best of both worlds. The producers are looking for solutions that not only drive performance but also align with the values and preferences of the end consumers, who want more food safety.

The partnership connects Delacon’s experience in phytogenics with Cargill’s deep expertise in applied nutrition. Through the partnership, Cargill and Delacon will deliver enhanced customer solutions in a sustainable and natural way.

“At Cargill and Delacon, we have a strong commitment to our customers, we are both science-driven innovators and, we deliver high quality products with proven efficacy.” says Elena Vasilieva, business group manager for additives, Cargill in Russia. “It is important for us to provide results rather than just a product.”

Science-based products with proven efficacy

Started as niche product in the 1980s, micro nutrition with phytogenics now provides the next frontier for animal productivity and sustainable, wholesome food production. Phytogenic feed additives are standardized mixtures of herbs, spices, other plants and their extracts with proven efficacy. Delacon is the first and only company so far to receive zootechnical EU registration for two phytogenic feed additives (Biostrong® 510 EC, Fresta® F), proving its products meet the scientific gold standard in the feed industry. Zootechnical registration is a legal confirmation of safety and efficacy as a growth promoter by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) following a rigorous approval process.

Given the vast variety of powerful natural ingredients, phytogenic feed additives are known for broad-spectrum efficacy, with proven impact on unlocking the nutritional potential in feed.  Phytogenics also control and improve the digestive process, balance the gut microbiota and support gut integrity of farm animals to promote feed efficiency, keep animals healthy and provide wholesome food while reducing the environmental impact.

About Delacon

Founded and grown as an Austrian family business, Delacon has been the pioneer and global leader in phytogenic feed additives for 30 years. The company researches, develops and produces standardized feed additives composed of herbs, spices, other plants and their extracts for poultry, swine and ruminants, and coined the term ‘phytogenic feed additives’. Profound scientific expertise in the powerful physiological effects and the specific application of botanical compounds is crucial to fully understand the potential synergism amongst numerous bioactive plant components. To unfold synergistic effects of a plant, Delacon uses botanical compounds and plant extracts instead of chemical, nature-identical single substances.

With more than 100 employees at 19 locations Delacon is consistently working on further expansion of its global leadership. In total Delacon's products are currently exported to about 80 countries. For years, the company realizes double-digit growth of revenues; ten percent of the annual revenues are invested in research and development.
