Poultry
Overview of our Russian poultry operations
Cargill’s European poultry business is a leading supplier and innovator of primary and further processed chicken products for retail, food service and food manufacturing customers.
In Russia, Cargill operates its chicken processing facility - opened in 2013 - at the company’s industrial complex in Efremov. Prior to that, Cargill supplied its Russian customers for many years from its facility in Orleans, France. Cargill’s Efremov further chicken processing plant, which employs over 150 people, predominantly supplies McDonald’s restaurants in Russia with high quality Chicken McNuggets™ as well as other chicken products.
Cargill has developed local supply partnerships with Russian poultry producers in order to ensure that the sourced chicken meets Cargill’s and McDonald’s high quality, food safety and animal welfare requirements. Today 100% of the chicken for Cargill products is sourced locally in Russia. This allows McDonald’s consumers to benefit from high quality chicken products produced in Russia with Russian high quality broiler meat.
Our traceability system supports a high level of food safety for our products by allowing us to identify the origin of meat, including location and production dates for farms, feed and chicks - within three hours.
